Problem Solving
Problem solving is at the core of everything we do at KPS. It is not just a service we offer, it is part of our culture and how we approach every project, challenge, and client relationship. While this may sound like a broad statement, it accurately reflects how our team operates in real-world project environments.
With over 28 years of hands-on experience in heavy civil construction focused exclusively on water and wastewater facilities, our team has developed deep practical knowledge through direct field involvement. Much of this experience has been earned through complex, high-risk, and time-sensitive situations the kind of lessons often referred to as the School of Hard Knocks. These experiences continue to shape how we think, how we respond, and how we support our clients today.
This depth of experience allows KPS to serve as a trusted technical resource for our clients, colleagues, and industry partners. We are frequently called upon when issues arise that require immediate attention, sound judgment, and practical solutions particularly in active or operational facilities where downtime, safety, and system reliability are critical.
Resolution, Execution, Expertise
A clear example of this occurred during a routine office day, when our team received an urgent call that required immediate on-site support. Within hours, we travelled from Stratford to Barrie to investigate flow isolation issues within isolated wastewater channels. The situation required confined-space entry, detailed inspection, and real-time problem assessment. Following an afternoon on site and several targeted coordination calls, we assisted the City in sourcing a suitable replacement valve and identifying an alternative installation location that resolved the issue effectively and safely.
This type of hands-on troubleshooting is where KPS adds the most value. We thrive in situations that require experience-based decision-making, adaptability, and collaboration. Helping clients resolve complex challenges especially when it matters most is not only what we do best, but also what we genuinely enjoy being part of.
